We are fighting against some unseen forces in the party, says Akhilesh
Lucknow: Though none openly says anything against each other, the shadow boxing between chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle continue continues. The latest issue on which Akhilesh made a veiled attack on him was the merger of Qaumi Ekta Dal with their Samajwadi Party.
His uncle, Shivpal Singh Yadav, confirmed on Thursday that the merger between the two parties had been formalised. The confirmation was made after the formation of the state executive which has some new names in place of those who were considered close to Akhilesh.
The latter was not available for comment after the announcement but some media persons confronted him at his native place Safai the next day (Friday)he did not appeared to be happy with the new development. He did not say anything in this regard but his body language suggested that he was not pleased with the new executive.
When some newsmen persisted he made a caustic comment. “we were number one before the election. I don’t know where we stand today”. “We are fighting with some unseen forces”, he added.
He probably hinted at a slide in popularity ranking. His opposition to the merger with QED is well known. It was mainly because of the controversy surrounding the outfit headed by a criminal-turned – politician Mukhtar Ansari.
Akhilesh, right from the beginning has been opposed to such elements and would like to face the next election with a cleaner image of the party. Merger with such parties does not go well with his plan.
Although he refused to say anything on removal of some of his men from the newly formed executive but he appeared far from pleased , which can be only expected in this situation.
