Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav attacked BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over the incident in Lakimpur Kheri in which 13-year-old girl was raped, brutally murdered and said that the harassment of girls and women is at its peak during the BJP rule.

He Tweeted, "The ruthless killing after raping a teenager girl in Lakhimpur Kheri, UP is a shocking incident to humanity. During the BJP rule, harassment of girls and women of Uttar Pradesh is at the peak. Why is the BJP government becoming an activist in rape, kidnapping, crime and killings? "

A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and killed, her eyes gauged out and tongue slit, in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on Friday, police said Saturday. The incident took place at a village close to the Nepal border.

The girl was missing after she had gone to relieve herself in the field. She was found dead in the cane field later.

The victim’s family found the body in a sugarcane field — reportedly owned by one of the accused — after a brief search, the police said. In addition, she had earlier gone missing after leaving home on some errand.

BSP chief Mayawati condemned the incident. Also, asked what the difference is between the governments of Samajwadi Party and the present BJP administration under Yogi Adityanath if such incidents keep happening.
