Another round of Akhilesh-Shivpal face-off in the offing?
It may be recalled that the party has seen a big face-off between the two in the recent past and when they look like have buried the hatchets, the issue of ticket distribution came up. It seems that the SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav will have to intervene once again to settle the matter
Lucknow: Another round of internal conflict in the ruling Yadav clan in Uttar Pradesh seems imminent as the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has handed over to Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, a list of 403 of Samajwadi Party candidates for coming assembly polls bypassing his uncle and state party President Shivpal Singh Yadav.
The list does not have few names of 35 sitting legislators and also of some of Shivpal loyalists inlcuding Aansari brothers, criminal-turned politician Atiq Ahmad and Aman Mani Tripathi, who has recently been arrested by CBI on the charge of killing his wife.
In a repartee, Shivpal tweeted to inform that only 175 names have so far been finalised and the basis of ticket distribution is winnability of the candidate. He also warned of action for indiscipline.
Shivpal Yadav's tweets:
The whole issue is sure to be snowballed into a fresh controversy within the party following contradictory statements of two top leaders of the SP just when the election notification is round the corner.
Actually, UP CM Akhilesh, who was removed as the party president by Mulayam some time back, had publicly stated that he wanted to have his say in the ticket distribution simply because his personal prestige is at the stake in the coming polls.
It may be recalled that the party has seen a big face-off between the two in the recent past and when they look like have buried the hatchets, the issue of ticket distribution came up. It seems that the SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav will have to intervene once again to settle the matter.
What Shivpal said later:
- The submission of list of candidates is media imagination.
- I have no knowledge of any list being submitted.
- The issue will be resolved after talking to all concerned persons.
- The decision of party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav will be final.
