Akhilesh names new SP state president, Mulayam knocks out 3 biggies
Lucknow: In defiance to the party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and 'newly appointed' Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday named Naresh Uttam as the 'state party chief'.
In repartee, Mulayam removed two generals secretaries Kironmoy Nanda and Naresh Agarwal from the party on the charge of anti-party activities. Nanda had conducted the proceedings of the convention convened on Sunday by Ramgopal Yadav in the state capital which subsequently was declared null and void and unconstitutional by Mulayam.
The decision to expel Nanda and Naresh Agarwal was taken at the meeting of parliamentary board headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav immediately after the convention had anointed Akhilesh as the new party president sidelining Shivpal Singh Yadav from the party.
Meanwhile, the Akhilesh supporters stormed into the party headquarters and removed the name plate of Shivpal Yadav from his office. The parliamentary board has already announced expulsion of Ramgopal Yadav from the party for six years, his second expulsion in three days.
Elaborate security was in place at party headquarters as well as at the official residences of chief minister and Mulayam Singh Yadav where the supporters of both the factions have gathered in large numbers.
