Bihar mafia don Shahabuddin’s case to be heard by a new bench

New Delhi: Setting a perfect example for others, a Supreme Court judge, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit who had appeared on behalf of Bihar criminal-turned- politician Shahabuddin refused to hear his case. He has done it to maintain the dignity of the court.

The petition is likely to be heard now by another bench after four weeks. In all probability the bench headed by justice Pinaki Chandra Ghosh will take up the case.

The don who is facing a number of criminal cases was granted bail in case of murder of a journalist. The Bihar government challenged the order in the Supreme Court and the apex court stayed the lower court’s order. He was subsequently sent back to Bhagalpur central jail .
