New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the orders of Patna High Court regarding quashing the ban over the Bihar government’s law regarding banning liquor in the state.

"Ban on liquor and fundamental rights do not go together," the SC bench said.

Justices Dipak Misra and U U Lalit issued a notice to the respondents including some liquor manufacturers.

It could be mentioned here that Bihar government had challenged Patna HC orders moving to Supreme Court on October 3.

Earlier, Bihar government had imposed a ban on all types of liquor in the state.
