Lucknow: By comparing Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers with junior engineers and asking them not to have poor thinking like them, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer, Hemant Kumar, has landed himself in a soup.

He made this remark while addressing a meeting at UP administrative and management academy (UPAMA) here on Wednesday.

IFS association has taken exception to it and written to the state government in this regard. The complaint was made to the association by a 2013 batch ifs officer Deeksha Bhandari. She said his remark was unfortunate for IAS, IPS and IFS officers fall under the same category.

It has demanded a written apology from Kumar and to keep him away from UPAMa in future.

IFS officer Eva Sharma has also written to the state administration complaining against him.

IAS association secretary Ashish Kumar Goel has tried to end the controversy by saying that all officers should be held in high esteem. Each one of them is important and playing his or her role in the administration assigned by the powers-that- be.
