Rajkot: Irfan Pathan, the former Indian all-rounder, received an IPL call up following the unfortunate exit of Dwayne Bravo from the razzamatazz tournament.

The Baroda all-rounder, who played for Rising Pune Supergiant in the previous edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), has been signed as Bravo's replacement in Indian Premier League.

Irfan Pathan, who used to be amongst the most popular Indian cricketers a few years ago, could not find a single buyer at the IPL auction this year.

Bravo was already declared unfit to play in IPL 10 as he could not recover from a surgery he underwent for his injured left hamstring.

It is worth mentioning that Gujarat Lions are languishing at the seventh position in the eight-team Indian Premier League with just two wins out of the seven matches. They are only ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) which has equal number of wins out of equal matches. RCB lags behind in Net Run Rate.

Irfan, who had the base price of Rs 50 lakh, remained unsold along with Ishant Sharma. Kings XI Punjab, however, recruited him later.

Irfan has till date taken 80 wickets and scored 1137 runs in 110 IPL matches. In the previous nine seasons of the league, Irfan Pathan has represented five franchises that include Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rising Pune Supergiant.
