Chandigarh: Trouble for Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, is far from over.

He may face a criminal conspiracy charge along with former Haryana chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda in the land scandal which had hit the headlines for quite some time.

There was a Congress government in the state when allegations regarding allotment of land to builders were made. It was also allotted to a company to which Vadra was allegedly associated.

Justice SN Dhingra who was appointed in May last year to inquire into the case has submitted its report to the government. A government official said here on Wednesday that the report has made some serious observations against the two.

The commission summoned 26 government officials, including Hooda, as witnesses and examined at least 250 files pertaining to the approval of land and change of land use by different builders. Vadra was not summoned before the commission.

On Hooda not appearing before the commission, Justice Dhingra is reported to have said, “I granted him the opportunity. Now I have the material on files. I will work on the basis of records available and mention it in my report.”

According to official sources, the commission could indict some top officers of the Town and Country Planning Department on account of alleged procedural lapses.

The commission had questioned at length four senior IAS officers — Chhatar Singh (now retired), the then principal secretary to Hooda, S S Dhillon, T C Gupta and Anurag Rastogi.
