China police detains 9 in Power Plant construction site tragedy

Beijing: Chairman of Hebei Yineng Tower Engineering Company Limited and chief engineer of the construction project along with seven others were detained in connection with a deadly construction site accident in China's eastern Jiangxi province on Monday. The incident had taken life of 74 people.

According to Chinese Media,"Local police detained nine people suspected of having major liability in the accident."

Earlier, 17 people were taken into custody for the accident.

It may be recalled that the tower of a power plant which was under construction collapsed on November 24 last in Fengcheng city.

• The construction of the power plant began in July 2015 and was expected to be completed in 2018.
• The tower is being built by Hebei Yineng Tower Engineering Co Ltd.
