CBI arrests Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices for accepting bribery

The complainant had alleged that a departmental enquiry was conducted against him and an illegal gratification of Rs 30,000 was demanded from him by the Assistance Superintendent for giving favourable enquiry report. The CBI officials said that a case was registered against the accused under section 7 of Penal Court Act at Allahabad.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation( CBI) has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices, Business Development, Regional Office, Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) for demanding and accepting a bribe of thirty thousand rupees from a complainant.

The complainant had alleged that a departmental enquiry was conducted against him and an illegal gratification of Rs 30,000 was demanded from him by the Assistance Superintendent for giving favourable enquiry report. The CBI officials said that a case was registered against the accused under section 7 of Penal Court Act at Allahabad.

The CBI said that a trap was laid to arrest the culprit while demanding and accepting a bribe from the complainant at Lucknow. “Investigation also revealed the role of another Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices at Allahabad in the conspiracy of the said bribery case. He has also been arrested,’ said CBI.

Both the arrested accused were produced before the Special Judge, CBI Court, Lucknow and the search on their premises is still on.
