UP bureaucrat SP Singh stuns Akhilesh Yadav by his 'political' speech

Lucknow: The politicization of bureaucracy is not a new thing in Uttar Pradesh. It was few years ago when the then Chief Secretary Naveen Chandra Bajpayee was pulled up for his infamous 'political' speech in Samajwadi Party office and following the same line, the secretary, Urban Development ,UP Sri Prakash Singh on Saturday erased the line between the politician and bureaucrat.

In his address at an official function in presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the senior IAS officer, who is enjoying his stint even after his retirement, sought to express his gratitude by donning the hat of a politician and chanted the slogan of the government ' kaam bolta hai' in so many words in the most blatant manner.

S P Singh, speaking like a politician, did not hesitate to pass remark on BSP Supremo Mayawati, who has, on many occasions, questioned the inauguration of various incomplete projects. '' When the foundation stone was laid, when the projected were inaugurated, these all are rubbish talks. If the government has done it, it will flaunt also,'' he said during his speech which elicited a lot of sarcastic smiles from those present on the occasion.

It did not end there. The CM Akhilesh Yadav was smart enough to pick it up and during his address he mentioned it and said '' what to say of those in the government but even the officers have adopted the grammar of us politicians like slogan of 'Kaam Bolta Hai ( it is the work that speaks)' .

It may be recalled that the IAS officer Singh has been very close to Urban Development Minister Azam Khan and has been enjoying the extended stint in his department due to latter despite all odds. Singh may have picked the cue from CM's address in the IAS week function when he, though in a veiled manner, assured support to loyal officers.
