A Bihar Bahubali to be produced in a special CBI court next week
Patna: Criminal-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin will be produced in a special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Bihar, in connection with murder of a journalist a year ago, on Tuesday next,
Lodged in Tihar jail in a different case Shahabuddin will be produced through video-conferencing. A CBI source said here on Tuesday that the agency would try to take him on remand for a few days to interrogate him further in this case.
The central agency has already spent eight months in investigation into the case. Now, it claims to have collected clinching evidence against him.
The evidence was produced in the court on Monday and on that basis the court issued a warrant against him.
The sources disclosed that final chargesheet would be prepared against him soon.
Shahabuddin is a close aide of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. In a expose by a news channel recently he was shown talking to Lalu from a Bihar jail few months ago ( before he was shifted to Tihar) which had become a talking point.
He is facing over 40 cases including some related to murder and kidnapping . Elected to the Lok Sabha four times, he has won two assembly elections. He was debarred from election in 2009 after he was convicted in a criminal case for more than two years.
