Lucknow: Minister of state for external Affairs V K Singh has taken a strong exception to the statement of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “ brokering their ( army men) blood”. This remark was made following successful army’s strike across the Indo-Pak border last month.

“This kind of statement only reflects his immaturity and the level Congressmen have fallen to”, he told media persons here on Thursday. He drew a parallel between the strike and 1971 war in Bangladesh when late Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister and said that none in the BJP had made a comment like this.

Citing examples of reaction of people in other countries in such a situation, the general said “ we should learn a lesson or two from the USA where people never questioned the army action in Pakistan in which terror master-mind Osama Ben Laden was killed. None demanded evidence or doubted the report of the army”.

“Everybody in America respects the army. There is a country flag flying on the all the houses of the citizens in that country “, he added.

Compare the statement of Rahul in this background that the stark reality would come to light. Not only has he insulted the army but the people of country who has nothing but praise for the defence personnel, the minister who retired from the active defence service over two years back said.
