A rape case filed against an AISA activist by a JNU student 

A case has been filed against an All India Students Association (AISA) activist and a JNU student Anmol Ratan by a 28-year-old Jawaharlal Nehru University student at Vasant Kunj Police Station here on Sunday levelling rape charge on him.

New Delhi: A case has been filed against an All India Students Association (AISA) activist and a JNU student Anmol Ratan by a 28-year-old Jawaharlal Nehru University student at Vasant Kunj Police Station here on Sunday levelling rape charge on him.

The student who filed a case was doing Ph.D . She alleged that Ratan had raped her when she was Unconscious.

The Incident:

  • The Victim posted on her Facebook profile that she wanted to watch the movie ‘Sairat’ and asked if anyone had a CD of it.
  • Ratan replied on the post that he had the CD of the film.
  • He then took her to his hostel named Brahmaputra.
  • Anmol offered her a spiked drink and allegedly raped her when she was unconscious. He also threatened her and warned not to report this matter.

Official version:

  • Anmol was the state President of AISA till last year.
  • AISA took a serious note of the incident and has expelled him from the primary membership of AISA.
  • AISA Delhi State Secretary, Ashutosh Kumar said, “AISA will reflect on and deal with this issue with all the firmness it deserves. AISA will be unflinching for the principles of gender justice even if it involves a leading member of the organisation. We stand by the complainant in her fight for justice.”

Ratan has not yet been arrested and the investigation in this case is underway.
