Girls attempt suicide after being raped, One killed

Kolkata: A teenage girl committed suicide after allegedly being raped by their neighbours in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.

Her niece who was also allegedly raped attempted suicide by consuming poison. She was struggling for life and was in critical condition.

The boys absconded after the accident but were nabbed by the police on the evening of same day.

The girls who hailed from Beldanga village in Cooch Behar were students of class 9th.

The father of the deceased girl alleged that both the boys were following the girls on their way to school and private tuition from before.

According to the police, the two boys on Monday last dragged the girls to the bushes and allegedly raped them afterwards. The police officials said, " They took the advantage of the darkness."

The officials further stated that both the accused are the residents of the same village and they knew the girls very well.
