New Delhi: Delhi Commission for Women's (DCW) chief, Swati Maliwal, has been charged with irregularities in recruitment of members in the women panel. An FIR was filed in this connection by the Anti -Corruption Branch (ACB) on Monday.

This action was taken against Maliwal on a complaint made by the former DCW Chief Barkha Shukla Singh. In her complaint, she has listed names around 85 members including some of AAP supporters and claimed that they were appointed "without requisite credentials".

  • Maliwal was questioned for around two hours by the ACB officials

  • She was also given a questionnaire carrying 27 queries and asked to reply to them within a week.

Maliwal said," I have been asked to give a reply for 27 questions within a week time. We have been asked how we did so many appointments to the women's panel. In a way, they are asking how we managed to do so work."

She also added," We have added 11,500 cases and attended 2.25 lakh calls on helpline number 181. The former DCW chief handled only one case. The DCW asks questions whenever a rape is reported. This is disturbing a lot of people. But we will continue to raise questions".

Maliwal also stated that she will cooperate with ACB officials by giving a reply to the questionnaire and providing all documents which are needed for the investigation.
