Lucknow: The process to elect 17th Uttar Pradesh assembly will get underway from Tuesday i.e January 17 with issuance of notification for polling in 73 constituencies spread over 15 districts in the first of seven phases elections. It will also mark the commencement of nominations in these constituencies.

The constituencies going to polls are confined to mainly Western part of UP, the communally sensitive area. The nominations in the first phase will take place till January 24 while the scrutiny will be done on January 25. The last date of nomination is January 27 while polling will take place on February 11.

The district which will go to polls in the first phase are- Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshehr, Aligarh, Etah,Mathura, Kasganj, Hathras, Agra and Firozabad.
