UP Govt cancels Shrawan Yatra due to election code of conduct

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has to cancel Samajwadi Shrawan Yatra, one of the prominent welfare schemes of the state government, due to election code of conduct.

The Yatra was scheduled to begin on Thursday from Lucknow's Charbagh railway station.

The Dwarka and Somnath bound Shrawan Yatra will take 1044 elderly citizens for the pilgrimage.

This yatra was originally scheduled for five days from January 12 to January 16.

Ashok Kumar Tiwari, Under Secretary, Department of Religious Affairs, said, "The next date for the Shrawan Yatra will be announced shortly."
