Mulayam Singh Yadav has brought feuding members together again

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has once again succeeded in bringing feuding family members together. He has also succeeded in making his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav turn-around and change his old stand.

He had declared after filing his nomination from his old assembly constituency of Jaswantnagar that after the election he will break-away form his parent organisation and form a new party. Thanks to Mulayam, he has dropped his plan and announced a couple of days ago, that he will remain with the old party.

The family patriarch has responded well to the announcement and launched his election campaign from his constituency which is part of his home district of Etawah.

The next best thing he did was to address a rally in Lucknow Cantt assembly constituency from where his second daughter-in-law, Aparna, is seeking election for the first time. It was his second stop as far as the campaigning is concerned. Clearly, he has all other party candidates after them in the priority list.

The meeting in this constituency was noteworthy for one more reason. It was also addressed by his elder daughter-in-law and Kannauj member of parliament, Dimple, who was not on the same page as Aparna on many issues. The two " bahus" applauded each other and appeared to be in the best of relationship.

After a good one- liner or making a good point Dimple looked at Aparna who responded either with a large smile or loud clapping.

Mulayam on his part did everything possible to secure her victory. He even told the electorate that his prestige is at a stake in this constituency and that her defeat will be his defeat. The emotional appeal found many takers in the gathering.

Even in the past when in-fighting in the family was at the peak he had tried his best to keep the flocks together and largely succeeded. He has proved himself to be a true family leader---forgiving every one for his or her misdeeds.
