GST may pass soon as government accepts Congress' demand
New Delhi: Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved two key changes in the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The Cabinet has cancelled a 1% inter-state tax from food manufacturing states and also assured total compensation for first five years of the exercising of the GST.
The decisions took place in Cabinet under the headship of PM Narendra Modi.
- Government has accepted the major demand of Congress after cancelling 1% inter-state tax from food manufacturing states.
- It is because of the opposition of Congress, GST bill is stuck in the Rajya Sabha.
- Other two demands of Congress are still not accepted.
