Jaswant Nagar (Etawah): The Circle Officer (CO) of Jaswant Nagar, Chandra Dev Yadav, was transferred by the Election Commission after a photograph of him touching feet of Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav went viral.
Subsequently, the officer was replaced by Vijay Bahadur Singh.
The action was taken responding to a complaint lodged with the EC alleging that the officers Chandra Dev Yadav and the Station Officer Faheem Akhtar were endorsing the Samajwadi Party while being on duty.
The EC sources said that the CO has been transferred to carry out the elections in an unbiased manner. It was necessary to take the step considering the complaint regarding the police officer.
It could also be mentioned that according to the complaint the two police officers of Barlai police station were appointed there for past many years. The complaint said that they were working as the SP workers in the area and were neither transferred nor relieved. The police officers were allegedly involved in illegal mining and extortion, the complaint stated.
