Hyderabad: Twenty- three Maoist were killed in an encounter with Greyhounds, a special force of two states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana , in Malkangiri district of Odisha ,early on Monday.

According to Andhra Pradesh Police," Two Constables of Greyhounds, were injured in the encounter. The injured constables were taken to Visakhapatnam for treatment."

According to Additional Director General (intelligence) of Odisha, Arun Sarangi," The joint operation by the Odisha police and Greyhound was carried out in the area of Chitrakonda near Andhra Pradesh border. We took hold of some weapons from the Maoists.We had asked Andhra Pradesh police for help."

  • Director General of police of Andhra Pradesh, Nanduri Sambasiva Rao has rushed to Vishakhapatnam to meet the injured.
  • The operation is not over yet as there are few more Maoists present in the region.
