Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday dented further the embattled party by saying the positioning of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has projected him as anti-muslim.

Reiterating the SP belonged to him and he will eventualy get the original symbol of 'cycle', he said ''the Akhilesh's attitude has harmed him politically and sent a wrong message among the muslims for whom ,I fought all through my political career.''

An emotional Mulayam said Akhilesh has been playing into the hands of Ram Gopal Yadav and will realise his folly only after it is too late in the day. ''I am saddened that my son Akhilesh did not have the basic courtesy to speak to me in a proper manner which clearly shows how misguided he is at the moment,'' he said while addressing a group of party workers at the party office.

Exhorting the party workers not to lose heart in the wake of recent bickering inside the party fold, the veteran SP leader said the original party belonged to him and will register spectacular performance in the coming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections irrespective of party symbol.

Accusing Akhilesh of taking arbitrary decisions to sack senior ministers like Balram Yadav, Narad Rai, Ambika Chaudhary and Om Prakash, Mulayam asked the it was uncalled for.

Rather harsh statement of Mulayam Singh Yadav came at the time when the Election Commission has to announce decision on the SP party symbol anytime.
