Married  girl is entitled to employment on compassionate ground

Allahabad: Marital status cannot be a basis for denial of job in a case of death of father or mother of a girl. This judgement of the Allahabad high court has come as a big relief to girls who were denied jobs after marriage.

It was delivered by the single bench of the court consisting of Justice S N Tripathi on the petition of Sapna Sahu. She had asked for employment after her mother died in harness on June 12, 2012. Her mother was an employee of the state electricity department.

The department had denied job to her in place of her mother on the ground that she was married and married girls could be employed on compassionate ground.
