LUCKNOW: Coronavirus has spread like wildfire in the second wave of the pandemic in India. It doesn't seem to end anytime soon. The second wave of COVID 19 has proven to be harmful and fatal. The fear of contracting the COVID-19 virus is something that is constantly on our minds. Now, it has been reported that, a family in Uttar Pradesh recently observed the terahvi - the last day to mourn the death of a person according to Hindu tradition - of five members together, who had died after contracting Covid-19.

Corona Scare:

In a span of 20 days, between April 25 and May 15, the family of Omkar Yadav lost seven members to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and one to heart attack.

The incident in Imalia village near Lucknow is a reflection of the plight that people across the country are enduring in the ongoing second wave of the pandemic.

As per a report by Aaj Tak, despite the heart-rending incident, the government and local administration did not take any step. "So many deaths in one village led to no investigation and even a basic sanitisation drive was not performed," said Mewaram, the head of the village.

He also alleged that the deceased were not provided with oxygen beds and proper treatment. Blaming the government, the mukhiya claimed that 50 Covid-19 cases had been detected in the village and the patients had to fend for themselves.
