University of Lucknow organizes Women health campaign

This Health awareness campaign revolves around the health of the rural youth and is designed in such a way that it helps younger generation to overcome the Stigma and taboos around women’s health.

Women health popularisation campaign organised by University of Lucknow under the guidance and leadership of Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai on its 4th day of mega campaign connected itself with 8 more government high school and intermediate colleges of Bakshi ka talab area.

This Health awareness campaign revolves around the health of the rural youth and is designed in such a way that it helps younger generation to overcome the Stigma and taboos around women's health and raise their voice against poor health practices of the societies.

Menstrual health and hygiene practices are very important for young girls and in an attempt to make it available to rural school students, Sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators were distributed to Rajkiya Highschool, Sonya; Rajkiya Highschool, Bibipur; Rajkiya Highschool, Beheta; B.K.T Inter College; Kumhrana Inter College; Rashtrapita Smarak Inter college; Rajkiya Highschool, Juggor; Rashtrapati Udhyog Aashram Inter College of BKT tehsil by Dean student welfare of University of Lucknow, Prof Poonam Tandon.

Demonstration of the operation of machines was given to the students and faculty members.

While interacting with the students Prof Poonam Tandon said that providing good mental and physical health to younger generation, is our responsibility and at the same time we must train them adequately to fight with the societal stigma around health and become vocal . She also said that having access to hygiene products is right of every child.


NSS coordinator Prof Rupesh Kumar talked about the importance of the health awareness of people in the rural parts of the country .

Students actively participated in the campaign and asked many questions related to parental and societal counselling.These queries were adequately answered by Dr Alka Misra.

A nukkad natak on the awareness of mensurational health was organised by the NSS students.

Till now university of Lucknow is able to connect more than 1000 students and 30 rural schools/ colleges .
