LUCKNOW: On 8th October under mission shaktiprogram, inauguration of sanitary pad vending machine, an initiative of gender sensitization cell, university of Lucknow was inaugrated by Dean students welfare prof Poonam Tandon. The initiative was supported by Prof Madhurima Lall , convenor mission Shakti, Prof. Shashi Shukla, Dean Faculty of Arts and GenSen member Madri Kakoti.

The idea of putting up a vending machine was conceived by Dr. Roli Misra, coordinator Dept of Geography and also convenor Gender Sensitization cell.
It was thought that girls in their difficult days of periods find it difficult to find a sanitary napkin in case they miss to keep it in their bags. Therefore, an exclusive space "My Space" a separate room has been given to the girl students where they can feel free.
The event marked a "guftoo", direct talk of Adamya theatre group with the students on topics like marital rape, mensturation. Dance performance by RK Arindam and Arjun Singh set the house on war, and Rubaroo the rock band sang songs on women empowerment.
The event invited large number of audience and Prof NK Pandey, Prof Rakesh chandra, Dr. Archana Shukla, Dr. Geetanjali Mishra, Dr. Anupama Singh, Dr. Prashant Shukla and many more
