Uttar Pradesh govt on Friday announced Sunday lockdown in the state amidst the rise in Covid cases, reported ANI. The restrictions will come into effect at 8 PM Saturday night and remain in place till Monday 7 AM.

All essential services will be exempted from the restrictions.The govt has said that people without masks will pay a Rs 1100 fine if caught for the first time and if the same person continues to flout Covid guidelines and is seen without mask, he/she will have to pay a heavy fine of Rs 10,000.

The Yogi government further said that all markets, offices, gyms, auditoriums, and cinema halls will be closed. All government and private offices will be closed and a massive sanitisation programme will be carried out across all 75 districts.

COVID-19 in UP:

Apparently, the spread of coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh is observing a massive surge. In the past 24 hours, 22,439 newly infected patients have been found. With this, there have been 1,29,848 active cases in the state. Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Mohan Prasad said that 9480 people have died due to infection so far. At the same time, 2,06,517 samples have been examined on the last day, and on the other hand, there were 4222 people who have returned home from the hospital after getting healthier.

UP Board Exams Postponed:

Amid the growing cases of Coronavirus, Yogi Adityanath-led UP Government has decided to postpone the UP board exams. The new dates for UP Board Exams are not yet announced. According to the officials, the new dates for conducting the UP Board exams will be announced only after the coronavirus pandemic is controlled in the state.

Night Curfew:

The UP government has extended the night curfew timings from 8 pm to 7 am in districts with over 2,000 active Covid-19 cases. These include Noida, Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Kanpur Nagar and Gorakhpur.

Schools Closed in UP:

Schools in Uttar Pradesh will also remain closed till 15 May. The board exams for classes 10 and 12 students have been postponed till 20 May, the Uttar Pradesh government said today after a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
