Kushinagar accident: Prez Kovind, PM modi condole death of children

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives of 13 school children in an accident at a railway crossing in Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

President took to twitter and expressed his sadness over the incident. He tweeted, "Shocked to learn about the horrific accident involving a bus carrying innocent school children in Kushinagar. Thoughts and prayers with the bereaved families and with those injured".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his deep pain over the incident and asked the Railways and Uttar Pradesh government to take appropriate action in the matter.

It may be mentioned that at least 13 school children were killed and 12 were critically injured after a train rammed into their van at an unmanned railway crossing in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar on Thursday.

According to a railway official the incident took place at around 0710 hours at the Behpurva railway crossing, around 100 km from Gorakhpur.
