BJP MP from Kairana Hukum Singh passes away at 79

Noida: In a saddening news, Bharatiya Janata Party (BP) MP from Kairana in Uttar Pradesh Hukum Singh breathed his last on Saturday evening at a hospital here.

Singh, 79, had been admitted to a private hospital here a fortnight ago after his health deteriorated.

Singh belonged to the Gurjar community.

Singh had been elected as a Member of the UP Legislative Assembly for seven terms - 1974–77, 1980–89 and 1996-2014.

He had also served as a Cabinet Minister in Uttar Pradesh under both BJP and Congress governments.

West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, who shared very cordial relations with the seasoned politician, expressed deep condolence on the demise of Hukum Singh.
