Lucknow: Inviting Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to join hands with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Friday said that if Mayawati is genuinely concerned about the Dalits she will contest the 2019 General Elections in association with National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Interacting with the media persons here, Athawale said, "If Mayawati accepts the proposal, NDA will win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in the coming Lok Sabha polls. If she refuses, the Samajwadi Party-BSP alliance will at least cost 20-25 seats to BJP."

He, however, claimed that with or without the support of BSP, BJP will form government in 2019 again and will win at least 50 seats in UP alone.

"If Mayawati joins the NDA, then along with Ram Bilas Paswan we can pressurise the Centre to allocate more funds for the welfare of Dalits," he said.

To create a divide between SP and BSP, Athawale said, "SP managed to win Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seats with support of BSP but, the former betrayed the latter in the Rajya Sabha elections."

He also reminded Mayawati of the atrocities Dalits had faced during the Congress regime and claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only leader who can eradicate the problems of Dalits.
