Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, on Tuesday, dared the saffron party to take action against the newly-inducted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Naresh Agrawal for his derogatory remarks against the veteran film actor and SP leader Jaya Bachchan.

Seeking an action against the rebel party leader, Akhilesh said, "If the BJP actually respects the women then it should take immediate and strict action against him."

The Samajwadi Party President also asked the Women Commission to intervene in the matter and demanded strict action against Naresh Agarwal.

Akhilesh, on Monday, had slammed Naresh Agarwal saying that his remarks against the veteran actor Jaya Bachchan was an insult to womanhood.

Taking to the micro-blogging website Twitter, Akhilesh said, "I condemned the derogatory statement by BJP leader Naresh Agrawal on Jaya Bachchan. This is an insult to all women in the country along with the Bollywood fraternity."

Agarwal, after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday, said that he was humiliated by the SP as he lost the Rajya Sabha election ticket to Jaya Bachchan.

"My status was reduced to that of a film actor. Because of her, the ticket was not given to me, which I did not find right," he said.
