Lucknow: There are more than 40,000 spiders roaming around on this planet with us. Some are hunters and some are often hunted by other animals. Spiders mostly spin webs to prey or attack their preys by jumping out of an hidden place.

They usually use their venom for hunting and rarely in self defence. That is why they attack human being only when they are disturbed by them or when we pose any danger to them. Some also defend themselves by ejecting a cloud of urticating hairs, leaving you with an immense stinging sensation.

There are many popular stories and myths around this eight legged creature. Many of them are about deadly human encounters with arachnids. Australia is infamous for habitating many such venomous species of spiders.

Firstly, lets burst the myth that if someone eats or gulp downs a spider accidently what are the chances of his survival? Well, as spiders are venomous if one get stung by them it can harm that person in so many ways but if a spider is being ingested by someone one could digest it and they won't cause any harm; but hey, why to eat them if they aren't a delicacy in your area.

Interestingly, Spiders are eaten by humans in some cultures; as they are a delicacy in some area of the South Pacific and a popular street food in South East Asia.

Sydney Funnel Web Spider

Funnel Web Spiders can kill a human within minutes, if no antivenom is available. It is native to eastern Australia, and its bite is capable of causing serious illness or death in humans if left untreated. It has given the title of being 'the most venomous spider' along with Brazilian Wandering Spider.

Brazilian Wandering Spider

Also called armed spiders or banana spiders, it is considered to be world's the most venomous and deadliest spider (shares the designation with Sydney Funnel Web Spider). Brazilian Wandering Spider belongs to genus Phoneutria, which means 'murderess' in Greek. Its bite can be deadly to humans especially to children.

It got its name wandering spiders as they roam jungle floor at night.

Black widow

Black widows are considered to be the most venomous spider in North America. Their venom is said to be 15 times stronger than that of a rattlesnake's. Fortunately, this highly poisonous spider bites human only when they are disturbed.

Yellow sac spider

This small and harmless spider is capable of delivering quite a nasty bite. Its bite is more like that of the Brown Recluse. The yellow sac spider is one to avoid, as these notorious spiders are ill famed for inflicting more bites than any other species.

Brown Recluse

Brown Recluse possess tissue destroying venom, in some cases the area around the bite begins to die and deep open sore is formed. No treatment for such wounds is available and it can take many months to heal or options like skin grafting are left. In many worst cases limbs have been amputated and many have been fatal bites. It is said that they are immune to bug-killers or pesticides and it only make them more toxic and angry.

Six-eyed Sand Spider

The scientific name of this spider's family is Sicarius which means 'murderer'. This spider in its true sense is an assassin and truly justifies its name. It waits for its prey by hiding itself in the sand and attacks when its prey wanders by. Its venom is a powerful cytotoxin that means it is both hemolytic and necrotic meaning it causes blood vessels to leak and destruction of flesh.
