SA vs Ind, 4th ODI: Go-getter Shikhar Dhawan hits ton, joins elite lists

Centurion: After bundling up South Africa for a meagre 118, India registered an emphatic 9-wicket victory in the second One Day International (ODI) at SuperSport Park here on Sunday.

India achieved the small target of 119 runs with more than 30 overs to spare. This is the fifth biggest victory for India in terms of balls spared.

Opener Rohit Sharma, who was looking in great touch, was the only batsman to get out as he scored 15 runs off 17 balls with the help of 2 fours and a six.

Continuing his good form, Shikhar Dhawan scored an unbeaten half century. He played an 51 run knock of 56 deliveries and laced it with 9 boundaries.

Skipper Virat Kohli, who scored a match-winning hundred in the first ODI, scored 46 runs off 50 balls and also hit 4 fours and a six.

Kagiso Rabada was the only wicket-taker for the home team. South Africa would surely be hoping some more effort from their top spinner Imran Tahir going forward in the tournament 0-2 with four matches remaining.

Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field first, a decision which turned vital for the visitors.

Indian wrist-spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, bundled up Faf du Plessis-less South Africa for mere 118 runs in 32.2 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up his first five-wicket haul. He gave 22 runs in 8.2 overs and also bowled a maiden. He was named player of the match for his outstanding performance.

JP Duminy and Khaya Zondo were the highest run-scorers for South Africa as they socred 25 runs each. Duminy took 39 balls and scored 2 boundaries, whiel Zondo played 45 deliveries and smashed two fours.

Openers Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla added 39 runs for the first wicket before the latter departed at the individual score of 23 runs off 32 balls with four fours. De Kock also could not go long enough and went back after adding 20 runs to the total.

Stand-in skipper Aiden Markram also failed to do much and was dismissed for mere 8 runs. David Miller went back without opening his account.

Chris Morris, however, scored 14 runs off 10 deliveries with the help of a six and a four. Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel managed to add one run each, while Imran Tahir failed to open his account. Tabraiz Shamsi remained unbeaten at 0.
