Chennai: The stars do not seem to be in the right place for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) season as after losing the home advantage, they have lost their key asset Suresh Raina for the next two matches of the season.

The superstar left-hand batsman has been ruled out of the next two CSK matches owing to a calf injury.

It is worth mentioning that this is going to be the first instance in a decade-long history of the razzmatazz tournament when Raina will miss a match for CSK when he will not play the matches against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Mohali on Sunday and against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Pune on April 20.

Suresh Raina had sustained the injury during the CSK vs KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) match at the MA Chidambaram stadium when the home team chased down a mammoth 203-run target with one ball to spare.

Raina had got medical help on Tuesday when he took a single off the bowling of Sunile Narine in the 10th over of the chase. He looked in trouble while trying to run between the wickets and finally got out trying to play an overambitious shot at 14 off 12 balls.

Raina's injury has added to the woes of CSK which is already missing Kedar Jadhav, who had been ruled out of the entire tournament due to a hamstring injury.

It, however, is expected that Faf du Plessis gets fit by the next match as he is recovering quickly from the finger injury and a side strain. Murali Vijay is also available now for selection. It is expected that Raina's injury given Vijay an opportunity to open the innings for CSK and push Ambati Rayudu in the middle-order.

David Willey has been signed as the replacement of injured Kedar Jadhav but he would not be available for the match against KXIP following visa issues. He might be available to play against Rajasthan Royals.

CSK had also lost New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner owing to an injury and is yet to name his replacement for the remainder of the tournament.
