Lucknow: When you think of toilet, the first thought you get is of peeing, pooping, bathing but a feeling of disgust surrounds you.

But, have you ever imagined what your life would be if there were no toilets? I guess, the answer would be 'no toilets, no life'.

On a regular basis, we often ignore how much time we spend on our daily routine habits. Do you know, in your entire life, you spend over three months in washrooms.

Every year, since 2013, Toilet day is celebrated on November 19 across the world.

It is an awareness day organised by the United Nations , a worldwide organisation, that brings countries together to talk about, and try to agree on, world issues.

The United nation has set the goal of making sure that everyone has a safe toilet by 2030.

Sadly, around 344 millions people in Africa do not have a clean toilet at home. There are also 620 million children in the world who do not have access to school toilets.

As a result, it leads children at a risk of serious illness. Children are forced to go outside in an open, or use dirty and unsafe pits for toilets.

The United Nations is calling on the all the big governments in the world to take a stand and help fund safe toilets for all.

In India, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) will celebrate the Day today with mass awareness and mobilization activities across States and districts.

The focus of the programme is on the usage of toilets, which is closely linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for a Swachh Bharat by October next year. The central part of the day’s celebrations is the Swachh Bharat World Toilet Day Contest among all districts by organizing grassroots activities involving district, block and panchayat level teams, swachhagraha and swachhata champions.
