It is important to practice good hand hygiene. Catching a great number of viral or bacterial infections causing miscarriage, infant deaths or stillbirths can be easily avoided with proper hand washing.

Regular Check-up

Seek prenatal care as soon as you get this good news. You may be having health problems or complications such as pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, certain abnormalities in your reproductive system or STIs (sexually transmitted infections) that you are not aware about, so talking to your OB-Gyn or midwife the soonest possible will greatly help uncover and manage it.

Get your flu shots

Studies show that flu shots does not increase miscarriage risks so there is no reason to fear getting your flu shots. It is falling ill to flu during pregnancy that poses risk of pregnancy loss.

Eat healthy

Eating a balanced diet is crucial during pregnancy. Consuming whole grains, vegetables and fruits significantly lessen your risk of complications brought by pregnancy, according to research.

Following a healthy meal plan also helps manage weight and control blood sugar levels in diabetic women.

Drink your medications

Consult your doctor and follow recommendations especially the prescriptions. Take prenatal vitamins if you're planning to get pregnant, or religiously take your folic acid during the first trimester of your pregnancy.

Adequate intake of folic acid is crucial to preventing formation of congenital defects, which can lead to pregnancy loss.

Also, if you are diagnosed with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension or lupus, take your medications because these conditions can cause miscarriage when untreated or uncontrolled.

Quit Smoking and Drinking!

Smoking is considered to be a major health risk causing diseases like high blood pressure, stroke and cancer. Smoking in pregnant women results in infertility and pregnancy loss.

So better quit the deadly habit since it will not only ensure your baby's life but yours, too, for your parenthood years.

You might as well stop consuming alcohol, too, while you are pregnant. Foetal alcohol syndrome is not the only reason to be worried about from drinking alcohol but the potential risk of miscarriage, too - most especially.
