Do you know the difference between Protective and Possessive partner?

There is a very fine line between being possessive and protective. When one is protective of you, they check up on you, make sure that you are fine and make you feel loved and wanted. While on the other hand, when one is possessive about you, they dominate you, control you and rob your freedom. When it comes to a detailed comparison between the two, here are some ways in which these two things are different from each other.

Possessive

When one is possessive about you, they will try their best to isolate you and cut you off from all your loved ones, be it your circle of friends or your family members. They will want to isolate you from your support systems.

In addition, they will try to change you. They will question your every move and will criticise you and lower your self-esteem. Also, they will trick you into believing that by doing this, they are helping you improve.

They will violate your personal space and privacy. Also, they will check your phone, internet history, everything. They will keep an eye on you always to the point of making you feel suffocated.

Protective

People who are protective of you, will not let you go out alone, especially at night and will always check up on you to make sure you are safe.

They will make sure to protect you from people who they don’t feel very good about and will tell off anyone who hurts you or poses a threat.

They will always be there for you, by your side and you can rely on them to get you out of uncomfortable situations.
