Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birth anniversary at the GPO here on Monday.

Medical education minister Ashutosh Tandon and former minister Ashok Bajpai also paid tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in GPO park.

UP CM flagged off the 'Swacchta Marathon' from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue. He was accompanied by Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma and BJP state chief Mahendra Nath Pandey.

What the CM said?

- CM Yogi Adityanath spun the Charkha at the Gandhi Ashram Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan in Lucknow.

- We all should bring at least a small piece of 'Khadi' cloth today.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promoted 'Khadi' by giving charkha to every household at Adarsh Gram in varanasi.

CM on PM Modi's vision of clean India:

- Prime Minister has a vision of clean and developed India.

- Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi set free India from British rule. It is our duty to make our country free from the dirt.

- Take a pledge today to dedicate at least 2 hours in a week to cleanliness. This would account to just 100 hours in an year.

- Inspire people near you to participate more and more in the cleanliness drive.
