Lucknow: In a step forward to work on lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" vision, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday announced to provide monetary assistance for marriage of poor Muslim girls in the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given his nod for organizing mass weddings for girls belonging to minority communities.

Sources close to the government said that the step will also keep a check on the Triple Talaq issue.

Minister of State for Minorities Affairs, Mohsin Raza said, "Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given his consent to mass weddings of poor girls belonging to minority communities and we have included it in the 100 days' programme of the state government."

Highlights of the scheme:

- Rs 20,000 will provided to each girl falling in the category.

- Government will also bear the expenses for other marriage rituals for girls falling under the Below Poverty Line (BPL).

- Government is planning to organise 100 mass weddings across all the districts of Uttar Pradesh at 'Sadbhavna Mandaps'.
