Security breach of UP assembly could be a terror part: UP CM Yogi

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday gave permission to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to carry out an audit of the Noida authority and Greater Noida authority.

The state government's nod comes couple of months after it allowed CAG to audit Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).

During the previous Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party regimes, the government did not allow CAG to audit the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities, despite reports of several irregularities. According to the experts, the CAG audit will unearth several scams worth hundreds of crores.

Earlier in 2012, CAG had sought permission from the state government to audit these three authorities, but the Akhilesh Yadav government had turned down the request, claiming that any department cannot be allowed to carry out a probe on another government department on its own will.

The then UP government had said in the court that 'these authorities conduct internal audit and there was no need of a CAG audit'. Interestingly, there have been allegations of wrongdoings in all the three authorities over the years.

According to the highly placed sources, the CAG audit is expected to expose several other government officials like former Chief Engineer of Noida and Greater Noida Authorities Yadav Singh.
