Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will hand over the loan waiver certificates to 7500 farmers on Thursday, when the state government will officially launch its flagship ‘Rin Mochan Yojana’ (Loan waiver Scheme).

The certificates will be presented to farmers in the presence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The scheme would cost the exchequer about Rs 30,729 crore.

The crop loan waiver scheme, that was approved by the Yogi cabinet soon after coming to power in the state, will benefit small and marginal farmers subject to a ceiling of Rs 1,00,000.

State Agriculture Education Research Minister Surya Pratap Shahi called August 17 a historic day for farmers and said that government has kept its election promise of waiving off the farmers' loan.

Shahis said that the ministers in charge of districts will give loan forgiveness certificate in their respective districts through a special camp to be held on September 5.

Shahi said that the loan amount limited to Rs 1 lakh will be waived off for the small and marginal farmers. He added, "Farmers need to link their bank accounts with Adhaar to become a beneficiary of the scheme."
