Wife of judicial officer alleges gender harassment by DIG CRPF

Allahabad: Dr Jyotsana Shukla, wife of a senior judicial officer and a CMO rank doctor herself, has alleged sexual harassment against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CRPF Bhanu Pratap Singh.

Dr Jyotsana is presently posted in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Sector in Lucknow and her husband is placed at Barabanki.

This allegation came to light in her petition filed in the Allahabad High Court challenging her transfer from Lucknow to Neemach in Madhya Pradesh at the behest of DIG CRPF Bhanu Pratap Singh.

A division bench comprised of Justices S N Shukla and Suneet Kumar stayed her transfer with the direction to CRPF that she may be posted anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, if required.

Meanwhile, the court has issued notice to the DIG, who according to the petitioner is indulged in gender harassment. The court has given DIG six weeks time to file his reply.

The counsel of the petitioner told court that a case of sexual harassment was pending in the Gender Justice Committee.
