Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly passed the Goods and Service Tax (GST) bill 2017, on Tuesday, with consensus, during the second day of its first session.

The bill was presented by the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stating it as the revolutionary step taken by the Centre for the benefit of small traders.

"The bill will prove to be profitable for medium and small traders and businessmen," stated CM Adityanath.

The CM further explained that the Centre will pay for the loss that would be incurred by the states after the implementation of the GST.

"UP will have an important role in bringing the economic and financial structure of the country under one roof," said the UP CM just before the voting.
