No one can be more sensitive than me towards those children: Yogi

Lucknow: In an emotional message to the UPiites, the UP CM Yogi Adityanath stated that while he is being targeted by the opposition for the deaths of children in BRD medical college, he was the most attached to the deceased there.

"No... Nobody can be more sensitive towards those children than me," stated the CM.

Claiming that the required money was released by the Uttar Pradesh government for the BRD Medical college on time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath blamed the Principal for risking the lives of patients.

While addressing media after visiting the medical college with Union Minister JP Nadda, the UP CM said that the supplier wrote letter to the Principal on August 1 which was sent to DG medical education on Aug 4 and money was released on Aug 5.

"When the money released by Medical Education has reached there, is it the mistake of the Minister or the Principal," Yogi stated.

He said if it is found that any death is caused by negligence of the hospital authorities then his government would take the strongest action. "Nobody will be spared," he said, reiterating what he said on Saturday at a press conference.

Adityanath also sought the Centre's help to set up a virus research centre in the eastern part of the state to fight vector borne diseases like encephalitis, which claim several lives each year.

"The atmosphere of eastern UP is such that there are many vector borne diseases like encephalitis. To stop the diseases we need to have a full-fledged Central Virus Research Centre," Adityanath said.

Nadda said the Centre has approved Rs 85 crore for setting up a central Viral Research Centre in Gorakhpur.

"The approval for a Central-level Viral Research Centre has been given. The research centre will be set up in Gorakhpur to help in finding out the real problems of the vector borne diseases in the areas of eastern UP and will help in finding a permanent solution. For this purpose the Centre will release Rs 85 crore," said Nadda.

Amid disappointment and anger in the people, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, visited the BRD hospital in Gorakhpur along with the Union Health Minister JP Nadda, on Sunday.

It could be mentioned that it is the same place where the deaths of 63 children over the last five days, due to encephalitis, has sparked massive outrage.

The Uttar Pradesh government, who has been battling intense criticism over the deaths of innocents due to cut in oxygen cylinder supply in the hospital, assured of prompt and strict action. "We will not spare anyone found guilty," the CM said while ordering a magisterial probe into the matter.

The CM described it as heinous act, if deaths were caused by a disruption in the supply of oxygen.

Meanwhile, another batch of liquid oxygen cylinders has been brought to the hospital earlier today.
