Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker election scheduled on March 30
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik has scheduled March 30 as the date of election of the Speaker of the seventeenth Vidhan Sabha of the state.
The election will be held at the Vidhan Sabha hall in the state capital on March 30 at 1:00 P.M.
It may be mentioned that any newly elected member of the house may nominate another member for this election by Submitting the prescribed nomination paper, duly filled in, to the Principal Secretary, Vidhan Sabha, before noon i.e. 12.00 hours, on March 29.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the office of the Principal Secretary Vidhan Sabha, on any working day, said Pramod Kumar Joshi, Special Secretary of the UP Legislative Assembly.
Attention of the legislators is drawn towards the provisions of rule 8(4) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, 1958, according to which a member shall not be deemed to have been duly nominated if either he or his proposer or seconder has not, before the names are read out under Sub rule (3) of the above rule 8, made the oath or affirmation as a member of the Legislative Assembly.
Earlier on Wednesday, the UP Governor, on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's request, had appointed Fateh Bahadur as the Acting President (Pro Tem Speaker) of the Legislative Assembly. To take care of the preparations of the swearing-in of the new legislators, Ram Naik has named Durga Prasad Yadav, Ram Pal Verma and Fagu Chauhan.
It may be recalled that the new legislators of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly will take oath of the house on March 27.
