UP assembly polls in December this year: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday expressed possibility of state assembly elections to take place in the month of December.

The UP CM, speaking at an interactive session organised by a newspaper group here, surprised everybody by saying so about the next elections. He,however, did not elaborate. The elections to Uttar Pradesh assembly are due in 2017 and as per the constitutional requirement , the new assembly could be formed by May 15, 2017.

In reply to a question, Akhilesh said that his party's next election manifesto will promise 24-hour power supply in the entire state in one year. He claimed that his government had done some excellent work on power front and his next term would be further substantiate it.

On Hindu Exodus from Kairana and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister said the list furnished by senior BJP leader Hukum Singh was fake. he made this remark in the presence of Hukum Singh who looked agitated on the remark.

Akhilesh chose the occasion to appeal not to play communal card on the issue of exodus saying there could be many raesons behind the families decided to shift their bases.
