A big bureaucratic reshuffle in the offing in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: A big reshuffle of IAS and IPS bureaucracy is on the cards, possibly next week, after the election code of conduct is lifted on March 8.
If highly placed sources are to be believed, the districts of Western Uttar Pradesh are particularly on the radar of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Many district magistrates and district police chiefs may be changed. Even the DIGs may be reshuffled.
The transfers of senior Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service officers were held up due to election code of conduct on account of MLCs elections.
The districts which may be affected include Saharanpur, Agra, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahr, Moradabad, Aligarh, Bijnore, Mathura and Badaun. Apart from Western UP, some other districts like Lakhimpur Kheri and Rae Bareli may be on the list.
There were few transfers of senior district officials immediately after the panchayat elections but that was limited to police department. This time many DMs will have to face the brunt, sources claimed.
