New Delhi: To the mourning fans of Lionel Messi who has announced his retirement from the international football, there is a reason to wipe out tears-- and smile.

The living football legend Diego Maradona, who has a ‘Hand of God’ ( to repeat his own words) in a write-up published on Tuesday morning said that his decision to say good bye to international soccer was an "impulsive " one.

Maradona as well as Argentina President have appealed to him to withdraw the decision.

It was taken following defeat suffered at the hands of Chile in the Copa America football match. It was the second defeat to the team by the same rival. What might have prompted him to leave the game he loved most was his failure to convert the penalty into goal. Since another of his team mates also missed in the shoot-out the result went in Chile's favour.

For the European football lovers, however, it is a festival week. The semi-finals of the Euro Cup will start from Friday. In the first semi, Portugal is scheduled to meet Polland. Germany will also play against Italy during the week which will be a must-watch match.
